This Year's Event

Information

Date: June 19, 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 6:00 to 11:00 pm
Place: Commemorative Air Force Museum
Cost: $60 per person

Purpose: The Midland Purity Ball is a Christ-centered evening that encourages biblical values and strengthens the bond between fathers and daughters. The evening will educate, entertain and motivate the attendees, giving them the tools to commit to a pure life.

Who Can Attend: Fathers and their daughters (ages 12 through 20). For those girls who have no father, we ask that a mentor escort her instead. This could be a grandfather, a family friend, an uncle, a pastor, or someone else who can serve as a Godly male role model.

We want to emphasize that this event is about the future; not about the past. If the Purity Ball were only for pure people, no one could attend. If you have made bad choices in the past as a father or as a daughter, you are welcome to attend. This event is to celebrate God’s forgiveness of the past, and His grace for the future, as we commit ourselves to the highest standards of purity in all areas of our lives.

The Program: The program will include a formal dinner, father-daughter dancing, an opportunity for commitment and a special program by Lisa Bevere, international speaker, Best-Selling Author and co-host of The Messenger TV program and 2010 American Idol contestant, Lacey Brown.

Prerequisite Suggestion: Parents should discuss sexual purity with their daughters before the event. See Resources for sources of information on how to facilitate the conversation.

Attire: Gentlemen should wear a suit or a sport coat and tie. Young ladies should wear a formal dress. Since one of the objectives of the Purity Ball is to encourage communication between fathers and daughters, use this as an opportunity to discuss clothing with your dad.

Registration: Because seating is limited and we fill up fast, advance registration is required. No space will be held without payment unless arrangements have been made in advance. Please contact info@midlandpurityball.com if you have particular arrangements that need to be made. Also, if you are unable to afford the cost of the event, please email us for information on scholarships.

Download and/or print a registration form. Depending on your software, you may be able to complete the form using your computer keyboard before printing it. The deadline for registration is June 16, 2010. You will receive your tickets in the mail approximately 1 week before the event.

Dads – Connect with your daughters this year!

  • Schedule a regular daddy/daughter “date”, maybe once a month or every other month. Go do something fun just the two of you to reconnect.
  • Pick a time to do something with her that she really enjoys-maybe cooking, volleyball, a concert, board games – you get the idea! It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive, but it will show her that you are interested in what she is interested in, and that you enjoy spending time with her.
  • Start a father/daughter journal and write notes to each other and leave the notebook in a special place. It may be easier to say things in writing.
  • Compliment her at least once a day. Make your compliments about who she is as a person, her heart and character. Maybe let her know you appreciate her smile or a kind hearted gesture that you saw her do. Speak to her about the good attributes you see in her or that she is developing as a young woman. Focus on who she is, not what she looks like.
